International Women’s Day 2026: Give To Gain

01/03/2026

International Women’s Day 8 March 2026 calls the world to action under the theme Give To Gain. The message is direct: when we give, we gain. Gender equality does not advance through passive agreement but through intentional generosity. Giving is not loss; it is multiplication. When women thrive, societies strengthen economically, socially and culturally.

The Give To Gain campaign promotes reciprocity and collaboration. It recognises that progress accelerates when individuals, organisations and communities contribute resources, visibility and opportunity. Giving may take many forms: mentoring a young woman entering a male-dominated sector, funding grassroots initiatives, challenging discriminatory practices at work, or amplifying women’s voices in decision-making spaces. Each act strengthens the wider ecosystem of equality.

Significant barriers persist. Women worldwide continue to face pay gaps, under-representation in leadership, gender-based violence and structural bias. Addressing these inequalities requires sustained commitment. Donations to nonprofits advancing women and girls, sponsorship within organisations, educational workshops, equitable budgeting and transparent pay structures are practical steps that shift outcomes. Support must be tangible.

As Maya Angelou powerfully stated, “Each time a woman stands up for herself, she stands up for all women.” Her words capture the multiplier effect at the heart of Give To Gain. Individual courage fuels collective progress.

Scripture likewise affirms the dignity and strength of women: “She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come” (Proverbs 31:25). Empowering women is not merely a social objective; it is a moral imperative rooted in justice and human worth.

First marked in 1911, International Women’s Day now enters its 115th year. Its strength lies in collective action. The question remains clear and pressing: what will you give to gain gender equality?
